A 27-year-old Fallon man was sentenced on Tuesday in District Court on one count of killing or possessing certain animals without a valid tag.
Chad Ryan Blumhagen was convicted of a felony charge by Judge David Huff. The charge levied against Blumhagen could have been ruled a gross misdemeanor, but Huff said poaching is a serious crime in Nevada.
Blumhagen received a suspended prison sentence of 12 to 32 months in prison and was placed on five years probation, which was mandatory in this case. Huff also ordered Blumhagen to pay a $2,500 fine and to forfeit all guns, knives, gun scopes and any other weapons used to hunt.
