RENO — Tahnee Robinson led all scorers with 20 points while Shavon Moore scored 14 and Johnna Ward added 12 as the third-seeded University of Nevada women's basketball team beat sixth-seeded Boise State, 64-59, Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
With the win Nevada improved to 17-14 overall while Boise State fell to 19-12.
Boise State tied the game at 25 with 2 minutes, 12 seconds left in the half before Robinson hit two more free throws to give Nevada a 27-25 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Nevada took a 10-point lead, 43-33, on a jumper by Moore with 14:48 left in the game. The Broncos cut the lead to one, 53-52, with 5:16 to play.
“I am very proud of this team. We beat a great team tonight in Boise State,” Nevada head coach Jane Albright said. “Shavon and Johnna showed their experience tonight and Tahnee showed why she was first-team all-conference and newcomer of the year. I'm proud we didn't lose our composure.”
Robinson has scored at least 20 points in Nevada's last three games while Moore, who finished the game with 14 points and 13 rebounds, recorded her 10th career double-double and fifth of the season.
The Pack shot 32.8 percent (19-of-58) from the floor while the Broncos shot 35.2 percent (19-of-54). Nevada outrebounded Boise State 46-35.
Nevada advanced to its second-consecutive WAC Tournament semifinal game and will face the winner of the No. 2 LA Tech/No. 7 Utah State game at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
