A man on the run after a 28-year-old acquaintance was stabbed Thursday turned himself in on Monday to the Churchill County Sheriff's Office.
Raymond Dean Williams was placed in custody on a charge of battery with a deadly weapon resulting in bodily harm and contempt of court. Bail was set at $30,309.
Williams was riding with Jake Casey, 28, Michael Allen Smith, 29, and two other unidentified men when Casey was stabbed. The five were in a pickup truck on U.S. Highway 50 and dropped Casey off at about 9:40 p.m. Thursday at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, according to Sheriff Rich Ingram.
Ingram said Smith and Williams fled north toward the Colony on foot. Smith was arrested Friday and charged with violating parole.
Williams was arraigned Tuesday and will appear in Justice Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
According to Ingram, the five men were traveling together about 60-70 miles east of town on U.S. Highway 50 heading into Fallon. All five were drinking alcohol when two of the three men in the backseat began fighting.
Casey was stabbed about 20 times in the face and body during a ride into Fallon. Casey was airlifted to Reno Renown Medical Center. Dan Davidson, a Renown spokesman, said Casey is still recovering at the medical facility, but he has been upgraded to good condition.
Casey was in the vehicle with Smith, Williams and two other men. Ingram did not identify the other two because of the ongoing investigation.
Ingram added a warrant has been issued for Williams' arrest for battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm.
The Fallon Police Department, Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribal Police, Nevada Highway Patrol and Churchill County Search and Rescue assisted in the investigation and search for the suspects.
