Anthony “Tony” Joseph Madeiros, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Fallon on Nov. 21, 2009. Tony was born July 10, 1924 in Patterson, Calif., to Manuel and Mary Madeiros. He grew up in Pleasanton, Calif. He was a decorated WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army between 1943 to 1946. He spent part of that time in an engineering unit, where he found his passion as a heavy equipment operator. He was a 64-year member of the Operating Engineers.
Tony moved to Reno in 1954 and married Naomi Weaver. They resided in Sun Valley until 1986 when they moved to Fallon where Tony was a farmer until his passing.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louie Madeiros; daughter, Judy Baker; and son-in-law, Vern Baker.
Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Naomi; sister, Mary Curdy of Santa Nella, Calif.; grandchildren, Toni (Monte) Benjamin and Robin Green; great-grandchildren, Kenny (Heather) Benjamin, Daniel Benjamin, Anthony AJ Drake, Beau (Jamie) Drake, and Summer (Josh) Thomson; great-great-grandchildren, Kody and Hannah Benjamin, Alyssa and Aryia Drake, Beau Drake, Jr. and Dustin Thomson.
Burial service will be on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, Nev. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV 89406, (775) 423-8928.
