Lacy J. Dalton

The Lacy J. Dalton concert oN Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m., will benefit Virginia City's Piper's Opera House, a nonprofit dear to Lacy's heart. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

Come early and visit Piper's Old Corner Bar before the concert, then stay late and speak with Lacy while she signs a CD for you after the concert.

Shakespeare Festival

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival presents a December jam packed with performances designed to celebrate the season.

Committed to providing the finest cultural events in the Reno-Tahoe community, the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival brings a diverse lineup of performing arts including inspiring dance and singing, the magic of children's theatre plus the unmistakable sounds of Handel's Messiah.

“As a community partner in the arts, we're pleased to be able to collaborate with our local performing arts organizations to celebrate the holidays with events throughout the region,” said Catherine Attack, executive director of the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival. “Although our main festival season is during July and August, we think it is imperative to share the gift of performing arts with the public year round. Our ensemble of performances brings to each community an opportunity to celebrate and be thankful.”

December performances include the following:

• The Sierra Nevada Ballet, “A Peanut Cracker – The Story in a Nutshell”: Carson City Community Center Dec. 5 at 2:30 and 7 p.m.

• Truckee Tahoe Community Chorus of Sierra College, “Classically Christmas”: Alpine Ballroom, The Resort at Squaw Creek Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 4 p.m.

• Nevada Shakespeare Company, “A Christmas Carol”: Laxalt Theatre Dec. 12 at 2 p.m.; Frank Sinatra Showroom, Cal Neva Resort and Spa Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 20 at 2 p.m.; and Grand Sierra Ballroom, Resort at Squaw Creek Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

• Reno Baroque Ensemble — “Handel's Messiah”: Lakeside Ballroom, Hyatt Regency at Lake Tahoe Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Nightingale Hall, University of Nevada Dec. 20 at 4 p.m Purchase tickets at the Web site LakeTahoeShakespeare.com/holiday or by calling (800) 74-SHOWS (800-747-4697).

Ticket prices vary depending on the performance but start anywhere from $10 to $25 for general admission.
