100 Years Ago

Local Mention

• A number of local people who were employed upon the Lake Tahoe dam work have returned home. They state that the contractors are paying poor wages and that the work is in the mud and of a very disagreeable character. • F. M. Stevenson suffered an accident that may deprive him of the future sight of one eye. He was feeding a threshing machine and a grain of wheat flew from the machine into Mr. Stevenson's left eye. • The Williams bands of sheep will be started south from their northern summer ranges along about November 10th, arriving at Alpine, Eastgate and this place several weeks later.

Fallon Team Still Undefeated

Paced by the stellar of their two star tackles, Pirrle and Uithoven, the undefeated, Fallon team came back in the second half to defeat a hard-tackling Lovelock eleven on the local football field last Saturday by a score of 15 to 0.

• Emmett Hagon was home from the CCC camp for a week end visit with relatives and friends. • The Good Will club will meet at the home of Mrs. Mattie Wilson on Wednesday. • Mrs. Harold Fitz returned home the first of the week from the hospital and Mrs. Monte Robinson is helping her with the work. • Mrs. Elvira Roberts Dixon has returned to Austin with her baby daughter born recently in Fallon. • Joe Tarzan has had the interior of his tailor shop on Maine Street redecorated last week. • Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lattin went to the summer cabin at Twin Lakes in Mono County for a short rest. Ralph probably wanted to rest up after the vigorous campaign, and get ready for legislative duties which will soon be resting upon his shoulders at the capitol building in Carson City.

Fallon Personals

• Seen in San Francisco last Thursday were Mrs. Margaret Kent, her daughter and granddaughter. • Mrs. Cousie Coverston was also in the Bay City last Thursday. • At the last session of the Duplicate Bridge Club held in the Artemisia Hall last Saturday, Peggy Shoe and Martha Berney broke the tie and landed in first place only a point ahead of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Beegley. • The Stillwater Friendly Club met Friday at the Lyle de Braga home. Mrs. Lena Barry was the guest of honor and a gift was presented to her as she is moving to Sparks.
