Parents support group meets Nov. 4
A parents support group for special needs children meets Nov. 4 at Round Table Pizza at 7 p.m. The topic for this month is how is your child coping at school and any questions you might have about IEPs.
Anyone interested in this group is welcome to attend; you don't have to have a special needs child.

The American Association Of University Women (AAUW) will have its monthly meeting Nov. 7 at noon, in room 303 of the Getto Building at Western Nevada College.
The brown bag luncheon will feature guest speaker Linda Jacks discussing the Rural Nursing Program. Guests are welcome; bring your own brown bag lunch, and join us.

The American Association of University Women is sponsoring a bridge tournament on Nov. 14 at the Senior Center starting at 1 p.m.
The entry fee is $15 as this is a fund raiser for the local AAUW scholarship program.

KOC has annual pork feed on Nov. 14
The Knights of Columbus have their annual pork feed on Nov. 14.
The menu is roast pork with all the fixings. The event will be at Moiola Hall at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 850 W. Fourth St. A no-host bar opens at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The cost is $12 per person.

Thrift stores have weekly sale
Fallon Industries Thrift Store, located at 165 Maine Street and Fernley Industries, located at 1301 Financial Way in Fernley, are asking both communities for donations of furniture, knick-knacks and other unique items.
Donations are accepted in Fallon at 1520 S. Maine St., and in Fernley at 1301 Financial Way. Call 423-4760 to schedule a donation pickup for either location.
Our specials for Nov. 2-7 are as follows: Green tagged clothing items, as well as all children's clothing, will be 50 percent off. Just in time for the holidays, all craft items will be 35 percent off. Nov. 7 will be a $5 clothing bag sale, which will include all green tagged clothing items.
All proceeds help provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities and families in need of household items. Gift cards are for sale at both locations.

Join Dr. Kym Maehl and Western Nevada College on Nov. 7, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. for an empowering class on “Self Hypnosis and Guided Imagery for Stress Relief.”
With the joy of the season and all the holiday hustle and bustle, stress can begin to consume people's thoughts and actions preventing them from enjoying all that the holidays have to offer.
As a creative and innovative professional with diverse skills, abilities and education Maehl will help those find inner peace, tranquility and awareness within themselves.
This one-day, highly participatory class will teach attendees how to integrate stress-relieving techniques into everyday life through self-hypnosis and guided imagery.

Northside Early Learning Center will host its Fall Scholastic Book Fair Nov. 2- 6.
The fair will run Monday- Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-4:15 p.m. Friday's hours are 7 a.m.- 4 p.m. Family and friends are encouraged to stop by NELC to shop the book fair on any of these days.
Community members are welcome to attend the book fair.

Overeaters Anon. meets Wednesday
Overeaters Anonymous meets each Wednesday from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Lake Tahoe Room at Banner Churchill Community Hospital.
Overeaters Anonymous is not a diet club, but a fellowship of people recovering from compulsive overeating. We offer mutual support, and the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues, fees or weigh-ins.

Friends Family Resource Center will host its annual coat caper event.
This event provides warm coats for the needy children and adults of Churchill County. Silver Sage Cleaners has partnered with Friends to ensure all donated coats are dry cleaned and looking their best before they are given away.
The coats will be distributed Nov. 5 from 4- 7 p.m. in the Northside Early Learning Center cafeteria, 340 Venturacci Lane. Use the green double door entrance. Signs will be posted for the event.
