Arlene Mae Wilson, lifelong resident of Fallon, passed away after a short illness on Oct. 14, 2009 at her daughter's home in Wadsworth, Nev. Arlene was born in Schurz, Nev. on Dec. 28, 1935 to Henry and Amy Williams. The family lived in Stillwater and Arlene attended local schools, graduating from Churchill County High in 1954. Arlene went on to Haskell Indian College in Arizona for a two year nurses training course. She worked as a nurse for several years and then went to work as the school secretary at E.C. Best, a job she held for many years.
Arlene loved being with her family. She was a great cook, baking the Christmas cookies everyone waited for, quilting, hunting trips and pine nut hunting. She enjoyed traveling and had taken trips to Hawaii, Arizona and cruises to Mexico. She was a very spiritual person, offering unconditional love, guidance and prayers for those around her. She was a member of the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; brothers; and sons, Ferris, Wendell and Alan.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Gwyneth Shaw of Wadsworth; daughter-in-law Corrine Wilson of AZ.; sisters, Rosaline Rodarte and Sharon Baca; grandchildren, Moxie Zermeno, Jennifer Wilson, Carlon Tobie and Stephen Millan; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Evan, Nathan, Diego, Zavier, Jaylee, Raynele, Kaylyn and Rozene.
A Celebration of Arlene's life will be held on Monday, Oct. 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at The Gardens Chapel. A traditional dinner will be served at the Stillwater Indian Gymnasium following the service. A private inurnment will be at The Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway, Fallon, NV 89406 (775) 423-8928.
