A Churchill County woman drowned Thursday in the T-Line Canal when she tried to retrieve an ATV, the Churchill County Sheriff's Office reported in a press release Friday morning.
Carmel Chandler, 28, was found about 30 minutes later and rushed to Banner Churchill Community Hospital. Emergency room personnel were unable to resuscitate her.
The CCSO received a report at 7:35 p.m. that someone had entered the canal and been swept away in the vicinity of Marshall Drive near the Reno Highway.
The CCSO and members of the Fallon/Churchill County Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team responded to the call.
