A 38-year old former Fallon man charged with 18 crimes involving burglary related offenses, pleaded guilty to four of them as part of a plea agreement in District Court on Tuesday morning.
Patrick Lee Sullivan admitted to two counts of burglary, and one count of grand larceny of personal goods or property exceeding $2,500 and obtaining money, property, rent or labor by false pretenses with a value more than $250.
Sullivan originally was charged with seven counts of burglary, five counts of obtaining money under false pretenses, five counts of possession of stolen property and one charge of grand larceny.
Before being arrested on the charges, Sullivan moved to California and came back to Fallon to visit, As he prepared to return to California, police were notified he was in town and arrested him on arrest warrants where his bail was set at more than $50,000.
According to court records, Sullivan for most of 2008 stole valuable coins from businesses and people and then pawned them at a local pawn shop by claiming to be the owner.
When sentenced on Aug. 18, Sullivan faces one to 10 years in prison on each of the burglary charges and grand larceny offense. He also could be fined up to $10,000 on each of the three charges.
For the charge of obtaining money, property, rent or labor by false pretenses with a value more than $250, Sullivan will be sent to prison for one to six years with a fine up to $10,000.
When told of the possible punishments by District Judge Will Rogers, Sullivan was visibly shaken and was asked by the judge if he wanted to consult with his attorney.
District Attorney Art Mallory said the agreement calls for most of the counts against Sullivan to be dismissed.
“We have 18 counts,” Mallory said. “If he goes forward, we are satisfied with the four.”
Rogers said he understood the plea, but wanted Sullivan to feel comfortable what he was pleading to because of the significant penalties he faces.
After Mallory mentioned the 18 counts being reduced to four charges, Sullivan said he was prepared to proceed and pleaded guilty.
