Fallon shooting nets more arrests



The Fallon Police Department in a concerted effort with the Churchill County District Attorney's Office arrested and charged five more individuals on Thursday for their role in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital on June 16.

Jonathon W. Brown 19, Patrick Black, 23, Anthony R. Eseroma, 22, Jose J. Garcia, 19, and Randall L. Reeder, 20, were booked into the Churchill County Jail.

Ebelio Erasmo Tapia Jr. of Stillwater Avenue previously was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm to the victim, principal to challenges to fight, conspiracy to commit a crime or unlawful act and resisting/delaying/obstructing a public officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Tapia shot and wounded Black in the arm near Churchill and Douglas Streets on June 16 as two other men prepared to fight.

Tapia is accused of aiding and encouraging Garcia to fight Brown by going to the location with Garcia to act as an armed backup.

Brown and Eseroma are charged with challenges to fight and conspiracy to commit a crime or unlawful act.

Garcia was arrested for battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, challenges to fight, conspiracy to commit a crime or unlawful act and resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer. The battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm was assessed because he was principal to the battery.

Reeder and Black are charged with assault with a deadly weapon and challenges to fight and conspiracy to commit a crime or unlawful act, and Reeder is also charged with resisting, delaying or obstructing a public officer.

Fallon Police Chief Kevin Gehman said Reeder had a gun with him at the altercation, while Black had some sort of a deadly weapon.

Reeder's bail amount is set at $29,382, and Black is being held on a $28.500 bail. Garcia's bail is $14,332, and the bail for Brown and Eseroma to be released is $8,500.

The Fallon Police has obtained an arrest warrant and are looking for an additional individual.

Gehman said it is expected more persons will be identified as the investigation continues.
