FALLON - A 26-year-old former Fallon man was sent to prison on Tuesday for sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
Marcos Ramirez-Corinado was sentenced by Judge David Huff to life in prison with parole being possible after 10 years which was the only possible penalty.
Ramirez-Corinado, who needed a court-appointed interpreter for the hearing, showed no emotion when the Huff announced the sentence. He was given 167 days credit for time served and ordered to pay $647 in extradition fees as he was arrested on a warrant while he lived in Arizona. He also was ordered to register as a sex offender.
Deputy District Attorney Craig Mingay said life in prison was the appropriate punishment.
Huff said there was really no other option on the punishment time for Ramirez-Corinado.
According to court records, Ramirez-Corinado pushed an 11-year old girl to the floor sometime between June 12 and Nov. 30, 2008, and sexually penetrated her.
If Ramirez-Corinado is ever paroled from prison, he will be extradited back to Mexico since he is living here illegally.
