CEDA breakfast, mixer offered Wednesday
The Churchill Economic Development Authority will hold its monthly breakfast and Business After Hours mixer on Wednesday, July 1.
The breakfast will be at The Slanted Porch, 310 S. Taylor. Doors open at 8:15 a.m. and the speaker starts at 8:30 a.m. This month's speaker will be Liz Orozco from Pixel Brain Design talking about a business Web presence. The cost is $9.
The Business After Hours mixer will be at Churchill Vineyards, 1045 Dodge Lane, located several miles south of Fallon off Highway 95. Charlie and Debbie Frey will offer complimentary wine, and door prizes — mini apple pies and “Apple Pie 4th of July” — will be provided by Deb Nelson from The Courtyard Café & Bakery. CEDA will also provide artisan cheese appetizers. The mixer lasts from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m.

DA's office offers child support enforcement
Child support enforcement services are available through the Churchill County District Attorney's Office.
The staff may be able to help establish parentage and help obtain a child support order to include medical support. Pick up an application at Churchill County Child Support Office at 485 West B St., Suite 120 or visit their Web site at www.churchillcounty.org/da/csd and follow the links.

Boy Scouts host
July 4th breakfast
Fallon Scout troops are combining efforts to present a wonderful beginning to a patriotic day. Come join the Boy Scouts from the community as they serve a breakfast of pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and milk.
This hearty breakfast will be served at the County Regional Park, south of the indoor swimming pool, on July 4 from 7-10 a.m.
Organizers request a donation to the community scouting program for this great start to a fun morning.
Museum lecture offered tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The Churchill County Museum Association presents its Summer Lecture Series Wednesdays in July at 7:30 p.m. at the museum, 1050 S. Maine St.
The July 1 lecture is titled “How Soup and Sin Saved the Silver State.” Listen as Mella Harmon, from Kautz Environmental Consultants in Reno, presents her topic on how the state of Nevada saw its way through the Great Depression.

CAPS announces holiday hours, board meeting
The Churchill Animal Protection Society (CAPS), 5894 Pasture Road, will close at noon on Friday, July 3 and will be closed all day Saturday, July 4.
The board of directors will meet July 7 at 5 p.m. in the Tahoe Room at Banner Churchill Community Hospital, 801 E. Williams Ave. For information, call 423-7500.

Stuf ‘N Such, The Store, located at 99 S. Nevada St. is celebrating July 4 with Red, White and Blue sale days. There will be special daily sale items with many new items for summer activities like camping, boating, swimming or just lounging in the back yard.
The Store will be closed July 4.
Note: a child's set of retainers was found in a donated girls purse. Please call the store at 423-6446 if your daughter misplaced a set.
Open gym offered for
volleyball players
Churchill County High School volleyball players or prospective players may take advantage of open gym sessions at the high school's gym starting July 1.
The gym will be open Monday through Thursday from 7-8 a.m., and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays again from 7-9 p.m.

Hurricams to meet July 7
The Hurricams Car Club will host an after show and shine get-together at Round Table Pizza on July 7 at 6 p.m. The club will pay for a buffet with members only having to pay for their drinks.

Thrift store offers
$5 bag sale Friday
The Community Service Thrift Shop, 169 E. Center St., will have a $5 bag sale July 3. Anything that fits completely in the shop's bags is on sale (excluding counter items and those marked “not included in the sale”).
Some sale items include dishes, clothes, books, shoes, toys, miscellaneous household items, bedding, material and more.
The shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Bubba burgers served Friday at Legion Hall
The American Legion Auxiliary will serve their popular Bubba Burgers tonight from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 90 N. Ada St.
The cost is $6 and includes a burger, macaroni salad and beans. To go orders can be placed by calling 423-3008.
