Elks have Father's Day brunch Sunday
The Elks Lodge, 93 W. Center St., invites the community to share in its Father's Day brunch on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a ceremony planned at noon. The menu includes traditional breakfast items plus a dessert.
Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children ages 10 and under and all fathers eat for free.
FYC hosts Lawn Chair Olympics Saturday
Come and join the fun and support the Fallon Youth Club for the first annual Lawn Chair Olympics June 27 at Oats Park. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and the fun begins at 10 a.m.
Teams of four will compete in 10 events to determine the Ultimate Lawn Chair Olympians. The cost is $25 per person and field is limited to 20 teams; so sign up soon. Lunch is included in the entry fee and beverages will be available for purchase. All contestants must be 14 years and older.
Some of the games include pickle ball, water polo, eight-legged race, volleyball, ladder ball, badminton, free throw contest, punt/pass/kick/hike, 3-on-3 basketball and washers. Prizes will be awarded. For information, call Shannon Goodrick at 423-6926 or Lem Mackedon at 423-2106.
Fallon Writers Group meets Monday
The Fallon Writers Group meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 90 N. Ada St. Please come and share your love of writing and meet other. We welcome any genre of writing — poetry, children's stories, fiction, non-fiction, memoirs or any other writing. For more information call Mary Meckler at 217-0327.
Housing Authority meets June 24
A representative from the Nevada Rural Housing Authority Section 8 Program will be at the Churchill County Social Services office, 485 W. B St., on June 24 from 1-2 p.m. to take initial applications for the program.
The representative will also be at the Fernley Senior Center, 1170 Newlands Drive, from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
The NRHA provides rental assistance for low income families, the elderly and disabled persons.

Fleet Reserve Assoc. meets Thursday
Branch 192 of the Fleet Reserve Association will meet June 25 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 90 N. Ada St. The branch membership invites all active duty, retirees and veterans of the military sea services (Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard) to attend any meeting. A new amendment to the National FRA Constitution has opened membership to all honorably discharged veterans of the sea services to join the FRA.

Duplicate bridge club meets Wednesdays
During the summer, the bridge club will meet each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Churchill County Club 60 Senior Center. All bridge players are welcome to join the club for a fun time. The club recently donated $500 to the senior center to show appreciation for the use of the building.
