Rodeo Club rides on



The Fallon High School rodeo club rides on this season, with recent participation in the Elko, Wells and Douglas High School rodeos.

The Elko and Wells Rodeo’s were held concurrently on the same weekend, May 8-10, at the Elko County Fairgrounds.

Bailey Corkill won her 12th All-Around Cowgirl award of the season at the Elko rodeo. On May 8, she finished first in pole bending, second in goat tying and girls’ cutting and third in breakaway. The next day she won in breakaway, finished third in goat tying and won team roping with partner Dakota Eldridge.

Colt Capurro won the boys’ All-Around Reserve at Elko. On May 8, he finished second in cutting, sixth in calf roping and fourth in team roping with partner Chase Wortman. On May 9 he took second in cutting, third in calf roping and seventh with Wortman in team roping.

Several Fallon cowboys and cowgirls scored in the Elko rodeo. On May 8, Marisa Julian finished fourth in pole bending and girls’ cutting and sixth in barrel racing. Chelsea Hubner took fourth in barrel racing while Morgan Howard finished fifth in goat tying and ninth in team roping with partner Gabriella Madraso. Jordan Norcutt finished seventh in goat tying, Kenady Howard took seventh in breakaway and 10th in goat tying. Kevin Dalluge finished seventh in calf roping while Dylan Norcutt and Martin Paris finished 10th in team roping.

On May 9, Hubner won barrel racing and Julian finished fourth. Julian won girls’ cutting, finsihed third in pole bending and eighth in team roping with Tomburello. Morgan Howard finished third in breakaway and also in team roping with Madraso. Jordan Norcutt finished fourth in goat tying, Kayla Norcutt took fourth in breakaway and Dylan Norcutt, with Paris, finished 10th in team roping. Kenady Howard and Trinette Requena finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in goat tying. Capurro took second in boys cutting and third in calf roping while Dalluge finished sixth in calf roping. Terynn Archuleta took third in steer wrestling.

The Wells rodeo began soon after the Elko rodeo ended. Julian won the All-Around Cowgirl title. On May 9 she won girls cutting and took fourth with Tomburello in team roping. The next day she finished first in cutting, second in pole bending, third in breakaway and fourth in barrel racing.

On May 9 for the Wells rodeo, Corkill finished first in goat tying, fourth in breakaway, sixth in girls’ cutting and sixth with Eldridge in team roping. Hubner won barrel racing. Morgan Howard finished fourth in goat tying and eighth with Madraso in team roping. Capurro took second in boys cutting and steer wrestling and seventh in calf roping. He and Wortman took seventh in team roping. In goat tying Requina finished seventh, Kayla Norcutt eighth and Jordan Norcutt ninth.

On May 10, Corkill finished third in girls’ cutting and seventh in goat tying. Capurro took second in boys’ cutting and calf roping, and Hubner finished third in barrel racing. Jordan Norcutt finished first in goat tying and third in breakaway while Kayla Norcutt finished fifth in breakaway and 10th in goat tying. Morgan Howard finished fourth in goat tying and Kenady Howard took 10th in Breakaway.

The Douglas rodeo was held last Saturday and Sunday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville. Julian captured her second straight All-Around Cowgirl award while Corkill was the girls’ All-Around Reserve.

On Saturday, Julian placed in five events. She finished first in breakaway, third in barrel racing and pole bending and ninth in girls’ cutting and goat tying. On Saturday she won girls cutting, finished fourth in breakaway, seventh in barrel racing and eighth in pole bending.

Corkill also placed in five events on Saturday, finishing first in goat tying, second in girls cutting, fourth in breakaway, sixth in pole bending and10th along with Eldridge in team roping. On Sunday she took first in breakaway and in team roping with Eldridge, third in girls cutting and seventh in goat tying and pole bending.

On Saturday, Hubner won barrel racing and Fallon Lucero won pole bending. Archuleta won steer wrestling and finished seventh with Dalluge in team roping. Capurro took fifth in calf roping seventh in boys’ cutting and fifth with Wortman in team roping. Jordan Norcutt finished fifth in goat tying and sixth in breakaway, Kayla Norcutt took third in goat tying and Kenady Howard was 10th in breakaway.

On Sunday, Jordan Norcutt finished first in goat tying and fifth in breakaway. Huber took third in barrel racing and Archuleta finished second in steer wrestling. Capurro finished third in steer wrestling and ninth in boys’ cutting Morgan Howard finished fourth in goat tying while Kenady Howard finished sixth in that event and 10th in barrel racing. Requina finished eighth in goat tying and Kayla Norcutt 10th in breakaway. Dylan Norcutt and Paris took eighth in team roping.

The club goes to Eureka this weekend for the final high school rodeo of the season.
