Myrtle Chapter #12, the local chapter of the Order of the Easter Star, met April 28 to honor our Star Point officer members.
Our meeting also consisted of a surprise 70- and 60-year pinning for two ladies who have dedicated their lives to Eastern Star.
Hazelmae Tipton, PGM received her 70 year pin with much delight. She was initiated into our Order in Michigan and moved to Nevada with her husband where she has served Myrtle Chapter since 1950. Hazelmae has been installed as two of our Star Point officers and her favorite lesson is that of Martha because of her unshakable belief in God.
Hazelmae has served as Worthy Matron in Myrtle Chapter and in 1972-73 was Worthy Grand Matron of Nevada. Her most memorable time in Eastern Star was being installed as the Worthy Grand Matron.
Dorris Taylor received her 60 year pin. She was initiated into our Order here in Fallon and she and many of her family are still in the community. Dorris has been installed as all five of our Star Point officers and her favorite lesson is that of Electa which represents love and loyalty.
Her most memorable moment in Eastern Star was when she was installed as Worthy Matron in 1962-63. Our two long term sisters were provided with beautiful corsages made by Doreens Desert Rose here in Fallon.
Myrtle Chapter #12 is proud to be a part of this community and we strive to help local agencies by raising money or donating our time. We have donated to Churchill Animal Protection Society and our community food bank.
We also support the University of Nevada Reno cancer research by Dr. Pardini, the Heart Fund, the ESTRL fund for furthering a career in religion, Shriners Hospital for children and the Make A Wish Foundation.
If you would like information regarding our Order, please contact Worthy Matron Mary Kelsey at 217-6023.
Our Star Point sisters many of whom have been in Easter Star for 25 years or more remind us of important lessons we should keep in our daily lives regarding constancy, fidelity, loyalty, trust and love.
Our Adah, represented by Brandi Boothe, and one of our newest members is currently serving her first year as an officer.
Our Ruth, represented by Donna Giles, has been in Eastern Star for 33 years and has been installed as three of our Star Point officers.
Our Esther, represented by Connie Van Wye, has been in Eastern Star for many years and has been installed as all five of our Star Point officers. She has two favorite Star Point lessons; the first is the lesson of Martha. Connies brother passed away the year she served that station, and she felt his loss deeply and was comforted by this lesson. The second lesson is that of Esther for she was loyal to her people enough to put her life on the line for them.
Our Martha, represented by Carol Dudley, has been in Eastern Star for 33 years and has been installed as one of our Star Point officers.
And our Electa, represented by Viola Heinle, has been in Eastern Star for 40 years and has been installed as all five of our Star Point officers. Her favorite lesson is that of Martha because her lessons represent a trustful faith in God.
The Order of the Eastern Star – The stated purposes of the organization are: Charity, Education, Fraternity and Science. Eastern Star strives to take good people and through uplifting and elevating associations of love and service, and through precept and example build an Order which is truly dedicated to charity, truth and loving kindness.
