Fallons high school rodeo ropers and riders continue to do well as the season enters its final month.
Bailey Corkill and Colt Capurro won the All Around Cowgirl and All Around Cowboy awards, respectively, at the Washoe County High School Rodeo in Reno on Sunday.
Corkill, who competes independently, also won the All-Around Cowgirl awards for both performances of the Lincoln County High School Rodeo on April 24 and 25 in Panaca, and at the Battle Mountain High School Rodeo on April 19. She has won 11 All-Around Cowgirl titles so far this season.
Shes seeking her third straight state All-Around Cowgirl title.
At Washoe County on Sunday, Corkill finished third in girls cutting and goat tying, and sixth in breakaway. She and partner Dakota Eldridge of Elko finished fourth in team roping. On Saturday, Corkill and Eldridge won team roping, and Corkill finished fifth in pole bending.
At Lincoln County on April 24, Corkill finished first in pole bending, second in girls cutting and fourth in breakaway and fifth in team roping with Eldridge. The pair won team roping on April 25. Corkill also won breakaway and took third in goat tying.
At Battle Mountain on April 19, Corkill finished second in girls cutting, third in pole bending and breakaway, and third with Eldridge in team roping. On April 18, she finished second in breakaway and sixth in goat tying.
Capurro and Marisa Julian, who are members of the Fallon High School Rodeo Club, were the All-Around Reserve winners at Battle Mountain on April 18.
Capurro teamed with Chase Wortman to win team roping at Washoe County on Sunday. That day he also won steer wrestling, took third in boys cutting and fifth in calf roping. He won boys cutting on Saturday.
At Lincoln County, Capurro won boys cutting on April 24 and took third on April 25. At Battle Mountain, he won boys cutting on April 18 and finished second on April 19. Wortman and he took third in team roping on April 18.
Julian won girls cutting at Battle Mountain on April 18 and 19. She also finished third in barrel racing and fifth in pole bending on April 18 and second in pole bending on April 19. At Lincoln County on April 25, she won girls cutting and finished fourth in pole bending and sixth in barrel racing. On April 24, she finished fifth in barrel racing, sixth in pole bending and third in team roping with a draw roper. She won girls cutting and finished seventh in goat tying at Washoe County on both Saturday and Sunday.
Several other Fallon High School Rodeo Club members have done well in recent rodeos.
At Washoe County on Saturday, Chelsea Hubner won barrel racing and Jordan Norcutt took goat tying. Morgan Howard finished second, and Kenady Howard tied for third in breakaway. Fallon Lucero finished third in pole bending and fifth in team roping with partner Amanda OFarrell. Terynn Archuleta took second in steer wrestling. Dylan Norcutt and Martin Paris finished sixth in team roping.
On Sunday, Fallon cowgirls took the top seven spots in goat tying. Norcutt finished first, followed by Kenady Howard, Corkill, Morgan Howard, Trinette Requena, Kayla Norcutt and Julian. Lucero won pole bending and Hubner took fourth in barrel racing.
At Lincoln County on April 24, Hubner finished second in barrel racing. In goat tying, Jordan Norcutt took fifth, and Morgan Howard sixth. Martin Paris and Dylan Norcutt were fourth in team roping, and Kayla Norcutt sixth in breakaway.
Hubner won barrel racing on April 25. Also that day Jordan and Kayla Norcutt took second and fifth, respectively, in goat tying. In team roping, Dylan Norcutt and Martin finished second while Kayla Norcutt and Kenady Howard finished fifth. Morgan Howard came in fifth in breakaway.
At Battle Mountain on April 18, Morgan Howard won goat tying and finished sixth in breakaway. She won breakaway on April 19. That same day, Jordan Norcutt won goat tying with Howard third. Team ropers Dylan Norcutt and Paris finished second while Dalluge and Archuleta placed sixth. Kenady Howard captured sixth in barrel racing.
Remaining high school rodeos this season are the Elko-Wells combined, May 7-10 in Elko; Douglas High School, May 15-17 in Gardnerville; and Eureka High School, May 23-24.
