FALLON - A 57-year-old Gabbs woman was arrested on Tuesday morning for killing a Fallon man in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 50 east of Sand Mountain on March 9.
Gayle M. Larnin, 57, is charged with driving under the influence causing death and driving left of center in her vehicle before striking the sedan driven by Guy J. Regan, 57. Regan died from injuries at the scene of the accident after he was extricated from his vehicle.
The NHP stated in a press release on Tuesday the blood-alcohol concentration results from the toxicology report revealed Larnins alcohol limit exceeded the legal limit of .08.
Larnin is being held in the Churchill County Jail on $50,100 bail.
If convicted of driving under the influence causing death, Larnin faces a sentence of two to 20 years in prison and a fine between $2,000 to $5,000.
Preliminary crash investigation details released by the NHP show that a blue Ford pickup driven by Larnin was traveling east on the highway, and she allowed her vehicle to cross the centerline directly into the path of Regan, who was driving a Dodge sedan.
Regan attempted to avoid the Ford by steering toward the right dirt shoulder, but his vehicle was struck in the left front by the pickup. The vehicles separated after impact, but Larnins pickup rolled over, resting on its right side. Regans car rotated and then came to rest on its wheels facing east.
Larnin was transported by ambulance to Banner Churchill Community Hospital and then airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center by Care Flight for non life threatening injuries. She submitted to an evidentiary blood test at the hospital.
