The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District Office, and the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Carson Ranger District, announce the availability of Christmas tree cutting permits to the general public. The agencies conduct Christmas tree sales to thin small trees in overstocked areas and to provide recreational experiences for local residents.
Cutting permits for BLM pinyon pine trees are currently available for $5 each, primarily on forested BLM lands in the Pinenut Mountains between Carson City and Yerington, the Clan Alpine and Desatoya Mountains east of Fallon, and the Excelsior Mountains southeast of Hawthorne. Maps and directions are available with permit purchase. There is no limit on these BLM non-refundable permits.
Permits for BLM (pinyon pine) trees may be purchased at the offices listed below.
Both the BLM-Nevada State Office in Reno and the BLM-Carson City District Office will accept phone credit card orders, or check/credit card mail orders.
