Beretta’s Fastest Gun Alive Results



Beretta’s 2008 Fastest Gun Alive - World Championship of Cowboy Fast Draw results are in and Ken Gentry a.k.a. Short Keg, age 64, of Carson City is the Men’s Champion. Winning the Women’s Title is Dinah Eilrich a.k.a. Alotta Lead, age 54, of Fernley.

The event was held over the course of three days with 110 of the top competitors from 17 states and Canada competing for the title Beretta’s Fastest Gun Alive. Cowboy Fast Draw is a fast growing sport that uses six-guns and holsters from the time period of the American Old West. Wax bullet ammunition is used that moves as fast as live ammunition, but is safely trapped by a backstop system, this allows championship contests to be held in a wide variety of venues. Gun safety is always the number one concern.

Ken Gentry started shooting the original type of Fast Draw in 1962 and was among the fastest shooters of his day and left the sport for the past 25 years. With the development of Cowboy Fast Draw he decided to get back involved with the sport 2 years ago, since then he has been practicing to get back and even improve upon on his draw. When he recently retired to Carson City he decided to dedicate himself to the sport, this is his first World Championship.

Dinah Eilrich has been involved in the sport for over 17 years, this is her 9th World Championship dating back over the course of 17 years of competition.

Rounding out the Top 5 Men Finals were James Barney, Phoenix; Gary Wagner, Los Banos, Calif; Jon Wilson, Sierra Madre, Calif; Cal Eilrich, Fernley. The Women’s Top 5 included Carol Adrian, Marysville, Kan; Annette Coffman, Caldwell, Idaho; Frances Hopper, Idaho City, Idaho; and Stormie Mernickle, Fernley.
