Local 'Support our Troops' drive held in September

In appreciation for the service of our soldiers, Kent's Supply Center in Fallon and Fernley is having another "Support Our Troops" drive during the month of September.

After the February drive, Kent's received many wonderful responses from Nevada soldiers, such as the following one from an Army lieutenant stationed in Iraq:

"Thank you very much for the letter and the items in the box. I'm not in the worst of places right now, but the supply lines stink around here. And it's impossible sometimes to get anything. The hygiene items will help tremenously!

"I am a Blackhawk pilot. I fly MEDEVAC missions here in Iraq. I have two incredible little girls - one is 4 and the other 2. My wife is taking care of them right now, and has the hardest job in the Army - keeping her sanity with them around.

"The life here is slow, thankfully, and I work with a lot of allied troops, from Poland, Mongolia, and Bosnia. Therefore, I get to learn a lot from others around the world. Flying is the greatest thrill, and being here and seeing what I've seen, I can honestly say it's nice to be an American - really nice.

"The support from the U.S. is awesome and we all appreciate it more than words can say. Please continue with it and keep us in your prayers. Thank you again for everything."

Once again, Kent's will join forces with Kathy Button of Fallon, who does the job of packing your donations into military care packages and shipping them off to out troops.

For this drive, we need such items as shampoo, conditioner, soap, magazines, puzzle books, dice, razors, cards, foot powder, hand warmers, stationary, female hygiene products, toothpaste, toothbrushes, prepackaged foods, CDs, DVDs, paperback books or anything else that will make our soldiers' lives a little easier.

Kent's will have collection barrels placed in their Fallon and Fernley stores during the entire month of September. All items donated will be handed over to Button, who will see that they are packaged and sent to Nevada troops.

Please join with Kent's and help make othe second Support Our Troops drive another big success. Your generosity is appreciated.
