Ever gotten into an argument with your buddy over who has the fastest car?
Ever wanted to have a chance to settle it without having to engage in a dangerous and highly illegal street race?
Tonight's your chance to do just that. Fallon's Top Gun Raceway is hosting Grudge Racing, an event where street legal cars can partake in a quarter mile race. It's part of a weekend of racing that includes Summitt ET Race No. 16 and Pro Quick 16. Gates open this afternoon at 2 p.m. with Test and Tune racing starting at 5 p.m. Grudge racing follows Test & Tune. On Saturday, gates open at 4 p.m. with time trials starting at 7 p.m.

According to track director John Stauverman, grudge racing is an event with no structure, just one car racing against another to see which one is faster.
"It's basically friend against friend and see who can run faster or more consistent," Stauverman said. "It's however they want to do it."
Not just any car can be raced, however. Before being allowed onto the race track, each vehicle must pass a technical and safety inspection that includes brakes, windshields, tires, lug nuts, seat belts and a check for oil leaks. Vehicles that don't pass the test don't get onto the track.
"It's nothing more that what you would expect on your personal vehicle to drive it safely down the road," Stauverman said. "We ask that you bring the same kind of vehicle out to Top Gun."

Capping Saturday's racing is the Pro Quick 16, a special race for the top 16 pro finishers in the regular points races. Winners will include prize money and trophies.
Stauverman says the track is in excellent shape for this weekends races and he expects a good turnout.
"Ever since we resurfaced that track this spring, the track's been phenomenal," Stauverman said. "And we always enjoy night racing because we don't have to fight the summer heat as much. These race cars don't have air conditioning."
