For the first time in seven weeks, the Fallon Black Sox will be playing a game on their home field.

In fact, they will play two seven-inning games. The Sox face the Carson Capitals this afternoon at 2 p.m., then play the undefeated North Reno Diamondbacks at 4 p.m. The games will be played at Lou Buckmaster Field on Sheckler Road next to the Churchill County Pool. Admission is free.

The Black Sox last played in Fallon on June 15 when they lost to North Reno, 6-5, in 10 innings. Since then, they have played either in Dayton or Carson City. They also took a three-week break while their league, the Western Nevada Baseball League, put together an all-star team and played a game against an all-star team from the Reno Adult Baseball League. The game was played on July 28 at Moana Stadium. The Reno all-stars won, 9-6.

Now, Fallon prepares for what will be the final four games of the regular season. Another doubleheader will be played next Sunday in Dayton, and then the league playoffs will be held in Fallon on Aug. 16-17.

Fallon enters today's games with a record of 5-3, Carson is also 5-3, while North Reno is still undefeated at 8-0. Jake Morford will pitch for Fallon against North Reno. The Sox starter against Carson won't be determined until this afternoon.

Fallon has played so often in Dayton that the town has almost become a second home.

"We have a home field in Dayton where they gave us the key, right to do our vending and pretty much run it as an NABA (National Adult Baseball Association) field," Fallon manager and WNBL president Bobby Amos said. "We're going to be playing a lot of games there."

Amos said, however, that the team isn't planning a permanent move to Dayton. The goal is to keep it in Fallon.

"If we can get the support we need and the sponsors to back us up, we'll certainly stay in Fallon," Amos said.
