During his two weeks at Camp Perry, Mayberry will be residing in "The Huts" near the rifle range.
The Huts are a collection of World War II prisoner of war barracks that are sparsely furnished. Each hut is lighted by a single light bulb hanging from a wire and has no air conditioning, making them uncomfortable during the hot/humid days.
At the end of the daily the matches, the participants peruse the displays of the many firearm and shooting equipment vendors. In the evening the youth hang out near The Huts socializing, watching videos, exchanging tips and talking about days matches.
Mayberry participated in the 2007 National Matches in the Marksman category. He will be participating in the Sharpshooter category this year and hopes to compete next year as an expert.
Mayberry returns to Fallon on Aug. 13.
