Carson River Festival Saturday

The Carson River Festival is Saturday at Fort Churchill State Historic Park, just south of Silver Springs, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This free family event showcases how teens can take the lead in environmental education. Music will be provided by the Slidebase Jammers & Friends.
The event is sponsored by the Carson Water Subconservancy District, the River Wranglers , Smallwood Foundation, Western Nevada RC&D, Dayton Valley Conservation District, Patagonia and the Nevada Division of Environmental protection.
The Carson River Bus Tour, sponsored by the Carson Water Subconservancy District, is June 26-27. The informational tour of the Carson River watershed takes participants from the river headwaters in Alpine County, Calif., to the Stillwater Wildlife Refuge east of Fallon.
Buses will leave at 8:30 a.m. each morning. Registration is $75 before May 30, or $80 from May 30 to June 19. Cost includes transportation, lunch and refreshments.
