Taking advantage of newcomers
I am a small-business owner here in Fallon, and was very upset by the way people who are moving into our area are treated.
A retired and disabled couple bought a home here in Fallon. They checked the Internet to find a place to board their horses. They came to us very upset the following day because of the conditions of the place.
We went with them to load their horses and bring them to our place. The lady charged them $150 for overnight! They paid because they are not well, but this makes our city and county look very bad to newcomers. I think people should be treated right and not ripped off!
I have complained to the planning department, and nothing has been done about people running business with permit, license, etc.
Shame on you for treating people that way!

What are 'grade-level' schools?
I am seeking information about grade-level schools. It would be great to hear from parents, administrators and educators who have experience with these types of schools. I would like to know the pros and cons and the good, the bad and the ugly.
Responses can be sent to me at 340 S. Ada St. here in Fallon, you can call 426-8853 or 867-3283, e-mail me at daveash@charter.net or ashd@churchill.k12.nv.us, or post a message on the LVN Web site or FallonTownHall.freeforums.org.
Thanks in advance for constructive replies. Later...

Gibbons' strife costs public
"Governor moves out of mansion," April 27, 2008: I am truly sorry if Gov. and Mrs. Gibbons are having problems, but for him and his staff to say it is none of our business is wrong.
If the governor is now living in Reno and commuting to Carson City, where his offices are, how much is that costing us taxpayers in gas costs? We are already in a terrible state budget crunch; is the governor paying for his own gas, or are we?
And why didn't Mrs. Gibbons move to Reno, instead of the governor? What is she doing in Carson City that is more important than her husband's job as governor?
What happens between these two isn't our business (unless it affects his job in some way), but what he might be charging to us taxpayers is. It would be nice for someone to explain that to all of us.
