CAC Opens Two Exhibitions "Twilight," Recent Ceramic Works by Becky Bogard

& 4th Lahontan Valley Fine Arts Invitational, Saturday, May 3rd

The Churchill Arts Council will open two new visual art exhibitions on Saturday, May 3rd at the Oats Park Art Center, 151 E. Park St., Fallon. ÅgTwilight,Åh a large scale installation of recent ceramic works by Reno artist, Becky Bogard, will be view in the E.L. Wiegand Gallery; and the fourth Lahontan Valley Fine Arts Invitational, a survey of recent works by twenty-three Churchill County artists will be on view in the Classroom Gallery. Bogard will give a talk on her works at 4:00 PM at the Art Center, and there will be a reception immediately following from 5:00 Å| 7:00 PM. The artistÅfs talk is free and open to the public. Becky Bogard teaches ceramics in the Art Department at UNR and is the recipient of an artistÅfs fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council. She has exhibited her work throughout the country including shows at the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe; the Donna beam Gallery at UNLV; the Wichita Center for the Arts and the San Francicso Airport Museum. Animals are the source of inspiration for BogardÅfs large-scale works which utilize cute, Åggirlish,Åh iconography to redefine the stereotypes used to typecast girls as weak or naiÅNve. Her creatures have an eerie, dynamic sensibility and inhabit a unique imaginary world.
