Celebrate cultural diversity Friday

E.C. Best Elementary School invites the public to share in our area's cultural diversity at its Multicultural Night event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Included will be classroom static displays; various ethnic foods for sale, including lumpia and Indian tacos; line dancers and performances by the Fallon Swing club, Spirit Sage dancers and Phil Am Club.



Baseball fundraiser includes auction

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Fallon Baseball is Saturday in the Churchill County Junior High School cafeteria.

Included with the dinner are auctions and bingo.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., the server auction is at 6:15 p.m., dinner is 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., bingo is at 7:45 p.m., and silent auction winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m.

Cost is $7 per person or $4 each for groups of four or more.

Tickets may be purchased from Churchill County High School baseball players, or coaches or at the door.



Elks host fish fry

The Fallon Elks Club presents a fish fry Friday at its lodge, 93 W. Center St.

Cocktails begin at 5 p.m., with dinner served from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The menu includes beer-battered filets of cod, french fries, coleslaw, tartar and cocktail sauces, butter, ketchup, lemon juice, vinegar, roll and dessert.

Price is $7 for adults and $4 for age 10 and under.



Bag sale at thrift store for May Day

A May Day $4 bag sale is Thursday at the Community Service Thrift Ship, 169 E. Center St.

The shop seeks donations during its business hours, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.

It does not accept large appliances, beds, bikes and car parts due to lack of space.



Legion Auxiliary serves burgers

The American Legion Auxiliary will serve Bubba Burgers, potato salad and beans from 5 p.m.. to 7 p.m. Friday at 90 N. Ada St.



Book Fair comes to W. End school

The Spring Scholastic Book Fair continues through Friday in the West End Elementary School Library from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for lunch. It ends at noon on Friday.

A great selection of books and other merchandise will interest parents, students and teachers. Flyers were sent home with students before the fair.



Students perform comedy, mystery

The CCHS Theatre 3,4 Class will present Agatha Christie's mystery "The Mousetrap" Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. in the CCHS Theatre.

The remainder of the Theatre 3,4 Class will present "Death By Chocolate" 7 p.m. Saturday through Monday, also in the CCHS Theatre.

Tickets are at the door at $4 for adults, $3 for CCHS students and $2 for younger students and seniors.

The end-of-the-year CCHS Academy Awards are May 24 at 7 p.m. in the CCHS Theatre. Admission is free to this recognition night.



CCEA retirees meet for banquet

"Night of the Stars," the Churchill County Educators Association retirement banquet, is May 9.

Horsemen host show May 11

The Fallon Horsemans Association's first horse show of the season is May 11 at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

The show starts at 8 a.m., with signups at 7 a.m.

This is an open-breed show with special color horses, Western, English, trail, minis and driving, halter and showmanship categories.

You do not need to be an association member to show, however, only members in good standing who have sponsored their horses are eligible for year-end awards.

Numa School hosts rummage sale

Numa Elementary School is having a Rummage Sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds from the sale will go to Relay for Life.
