A routine traffic stop last week by a Fallon police detective in Churchill County turned into a large narcotics bust.
According to a press release from the North Central Narcotics Task Force, FPD Detective Jerry Edwards stopped a vehicle for a traffic offense on Williams Avenue near Tedford Lane. The car was occupied by five local juveniles between the ages of 14 and 17.
According to the Fallon Police Department, the driver of the vehicle was 17-years-old. In addition, two of the passengers were 16 years old and the other two were 14.
While talking to the juveniles, Edwards and another officer saw marijuana in plain view inside the vehicle.
The North Central Narcotics Task Force responded, and assisted in locating approximately 104.4 grams of marijuana, prescription drugs, items of drug paraphernalia and $285.00 in cash, which was attributed to the sale of marijuana.
The task force then searched a local residence associated with the teenagers, seizing approximately 3.1 grams of Psilocybin mushrooms and more narcotics paraphernalia.
The North Central Narcotics Task Force is comprised of the following agencies: Fallon Police Department, Nevada Department of Public Safety - Investigation Division, Mineral County Sheriff's Office and the Churchill County Sheriff's Office.
