Doug and Kelly Russell, owners of DK Photography, hope to offer quality portrait and event photography to the growing population of Fallon at a reasonable price.
"Here in Fallon for photography you've got Wal-Mart or you've got a very high end where most people can't afford it. We're hoping to provide Fallon with heirloom portraits for their family at a reasonable price and we're able to do that, so that is why we started the business," said Kelly Russell, business manager.
"My side of the business is the advertising and the marketing, but my husband has always had a passion for photography," she said.
Doug Russell was a photojournalist in college shooting mostly action photos and sports. As the years passed and with the arrival of kids, the couple became increasingly interested in doing portraits.

Russell entered a few of his black and white images in the Cantaloupe Festival photo contest and won. After seeing his work, many of their friends started asking him to take pictures. The response was so favorable that the couple thought a photography business might be the way to proceed.
About three or four months ago, Doug Russell shot a wedding and had a lot of positive comments about it.
"We're hoping to get more weddings, but obviously this isn't the season," she said.
The Russells have photographed preschool children, offering a variety of backgrounds to parents instead the usual blue background.

"My husband also does landscapes, which are gorgeous," Kelly Russell said.
The couple is working to put together a package for newborns and their mothers.
"I know that is something that people really enjoy," she said.
DK Photography offers online selection for viewing proof images and ordering prints. "Family and friends are able to go online to a password-protected site," Russell said.

When viewing photos on the Web site, clients have the option of viewing their images in color, black and white or sepia to help them determine what look they would like to have in the finished product.
"The great thing about shooting digital and the online viewing and ordering is that you can call family anywhere in the country and they can go online and look at images and order from the Web site," she said.
The Russells offer the option of location photography, or they will set up in their home if requested.
"We have all the professional lighting equipment that is portable to do portraits of families or individuals on location," Kelly Russell said.
