Fallon Branch President

The Fallon Branch of the American Association of University Women will host a special celebration at the Churchill County Museum on Dec. 4 to commemorate the founding of our national organization of AAUW 125 years ago on Nov. 28, 1881.

Marion Talbot, Ellen Richards and 15 other women college graduates began their quest to fight for equity and to promote policies that would further educational opportunities for women and girls in Boston, Mass., on that historic date.

A special musical presentation will be provided by the Churchill County High School Chamber Singers, who traveled to New York City to perform at the 9-11 dedication of the Freedom Building at Ground Zero in October. Chautauqua presenter Doris Dwyer will portray Margaret Bouerke-White, who was a noted photographer for Time Magazine during World War II.

Special presentations will be given to AAUW members who have been actively involved in the Fallon Branch of AAUW during the decades from the branch's formation in the 1960s to the present. Branch scrapbooks and memorabilia will be on display to note the Fallon Branch's activities, special projects, and accomplishments through the years.

Present and past AAUW members, scholarship recipients and community patrons are invited to help us celebrate our 125th Anniversary of the American Association of University's founding, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be served following the special program. Contact Wilma Miers at 867-2026 for more information.
