Fallon rodeo members compete at Boulder City, Alamo



Fallon High School Rodeo member Casey Barton was named all-around cowboy, while teammates Jordan Norcutt won reserve cowgirl and Morgan Howard was tabbed rookie cowgirl at the recently held Boulder High School rodeo.

Barton was also the rookie cowboy on the first day.

On the first go-around, Chelsea Hubner turned in a time of 17.059 seconds to win barrel racing, and she finished eighth in pole bending. Norcutt placed first in goat tying in 8.17, and Morgan Howard came in third. Norcutt also won the breakaway roping in 2.79.

Barton and Chase Williams took first in team roping in 8.71. Devin Norcutt placed 10th in calf roping, and Colt Capurro was a second-place finisher in boys' cutting with 67.5 points.

On the second day, Howard came in first in goat tying in 9.25 and seventh in barrels. Jordan Norcutt placed third in goat tying. Hubner captured first place in poles in 21.596. Norcutt won breakaway roping in 2.42.

Barton and Chase Williams took second in team roping, while Logan Nuttall came in second in calf roping in 13.21. Devin Norcutt and Capurro finished fourth and ninth, respectively.

Capurro finished third in boys' cutting with 61 points, and Devin Norcutt had a successful first-place ride in saddle bronc with 65 points.

At the Alamo High School Rodeo, Nuttall took third in calf roping, and Devin Norcutt placed seventh. Team ropers Nuttall and Colin Steele finished seventh, followed in eighth place by Capurro and his partner.

Fallon had three cowgirls placing in pole bending. Mandi Taylor came in third, while Hubner was in fifth and Jessica Gurr in sixth. Jordan Norcutt rode to fifth place in breakaway roping and placed third in goat tying. Taylor was runner-up in barrel racing. Hubner finished sixth, and Marissa Julian came in eighth.

The Juilan sisters (Cara and Marissa) captured first and second in girls cutting on both days.

On the second day of rodeo, Nuttall placed second in calf roping, and Devin Norcutt placed fifth. Capurro scored 67 points to finish second in boys cutting.

Capurro finished third in boys' cutting with 62 points.

Hubner took second again in pole bending, followed by Howard in third and Taylor in ninth. Howard finished seventh in breakaway roping.

Justin Johnson won saddle bronc with 64 points.

Barrel racing featured three top-10 finishes for Fallon riders. Taylor came in third, and Marissa Julian took sixth. Jordan Norcutt placed ninth.

The Fallon High School Rodeo Club is holding its annual Christmas auction on Dec. 2 at Harmon School. The auction includes homemade desserts and handmade crafts made by each member.

Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the auction starting at 7 p.m.

Notes - Olie Fowler and Bailey Corkill are riding for the Winnemucca club.

On the first day at Alamo, Fowler placed third in goat tying and fifth in breakaway. Corkill was fourth in goat tying, and she and partner Dakota Eldridge of Elko came in 10th in team roping.

On the second day, Corkill placed fourth and Fowler ninth in breakaway roping. Corkill won the goat tying in 9.69. In team roping, Corkill and Eldridge placed fifth
