Reed's defense shut down the Lady Wave for the second time this season as the Raiders took a 4-0 High Desert League girls' soccer win Saturday in Sparks.

Earlier this season in Fallon, the Raiders controlled both sides of the field for a 10-0 victory.

Fallon falls to 0-9 and hosts Spanish Springs today at 3 p.m. at the Ed Arciniega Athletic Complex.

Fallon coach Lance Lattin said the loss to Reed wasn't a great game for the team.

"We never got going. The game time was changed, and we had been out in the sun for five hours prior to the games, which didn't help any," he said.

Lattin said the players looked sluggish during the game.

"We are not a team that can play well without a high level of energy and intensity, and we didn't do that on Saturday," Lattin said.

However, Lattin said the Wave played a better match against Reed compared to the first time the two teams met in Fallon.

In that match, the Raiders had a better transition game and were able to open the middle.

Lattin said Reed moved the ball well on Saturday and attacked Fallon from the flanks.

"The diagonal through balls were especially hard for us to deal with because of Reed's speed on attack," Lattin said.

Lattin said the Greenwave midfield had difficulty controlling Reed's forwards.

"We weren't as quick to the ball as Reed, and we struggled with our passing," Lattin said.

According to Lattin, Reed had several fast players who could quickly move the ball downfield.

"If you let them get a jump on a well-timed pass, it is hard to recover," Lattin said.

The Raiders scored three of their four goals on breakaway runs.
