Junior high schedule pick-up announced

Junior high students may pick up their 2006-2007 class schedules on Tuesday, Aug. 22 and Wed., Aug. 23. Schedules will be available only on these two days. Schedules may be picked up in the office area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All students, including those who picked up a schedule early, will be issued another copy on the first day of school, Aug. 28.

On the first day of school students should gather on the black top area behind the junior high building. From there students will be directed where to pick up their class schedules and what room to report to.



Thrift shop

holds a bag

sale on Friday

A $3 bag sale will be offered Friday at Community Services Thrift Shop.

Anything that fits "completely" inside our grocery sacks except those items marked "not included in the sale." We have "special sales" each day.

Please leave your clean, resellable donations during hours we are here as donations left at other times are being stolen or destroyed. The shop is located at 159 E. Center St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.



Country Fair

committee meets Tuesday at noon

The Country Fair Committee will be having a potluck lunch meeting on Aug. 8 at noon in the Nevada Cooperative Extension Office, 111 Sheckler Road. The Country Fair will be held with the Cantaloupe Festival. For more information, call 423-5121.



CEDA economic board meets Aug. 10 at 2 p.m.

The Churchill Economic Development Authority Board will meet at a special work session, Thursday, Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Churchill County Administrative Complex, room 136, 155 N. Taylor St. For more information, please call Laura Jean Ijames at 423-8587.



CEDA Business Council meets Tuesday at 7 a.m.

The CEDA Business Council will meet Tuesday at 7 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Clubhouse Restaurant and Tavern located at the Golf Course at Fallon. The guest speaker will be Dr. Steven Perkins for the new Plant Material Center Manager for the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. Nominations available for

governor's award

The Nevada Commission for National and Community Service, Inc. (NCNCS) has announced that nominations for the annual Governor's Points of Light Award will be accepted through Aug. 31.

The Governor's Points of Light Award recognizes individuals and organizations for their dedication, commitment, and determination in promoting and supporting volunteerism throughout the state.

The five categories include: Individual, North; Individual, South; Individual, Rural; Non-Profit Agency/Service Organization; and Corporation/Business.

Three finalists and one recipient in each category will be honored at an awards dinner held Nov. 2 in Las Vegas.

To nominate a person, organization or business complete and submit a 2006 Governor's Points of Light Award application. Applications are available at www.americorpsnevada.org or by calling the Nevada Commission for National and Community Service in Fallon at 423-1461.



Eagles public breakfast held Sunday morning

The Eagles public breakfast will be held this Sunday at the Eagles Hall, 7977 Reno Highway, from 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

The menu consists of French toast, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, hot cakes, hash-browns, orange juice and coffee. The price is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children 10 and younger.

All net proceeds will go to benefit Eagle's charities.
