Zone changes and the confirmation of a new Fallon Municipal Judge are on the agenda for tonight's Fallon City Council meeting.
The council is expected to approve Mike Lister, who was selected by Mayor Ken Tedford, as judge. He will take over when Judge Bill Teurman retires Thursday after 30 years on the bench.
Lister has worked as general manager of Stockman's Casino, built and owned the Depot Casino and Quik Stop Market and held a real estate license. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in human resource management.
Councilman Willis Swan said Lister passes muster with the City Council.
"We've each individually talked with him," Swan said. "We find him to be qualified. Basically, we'll make a motion to approve him becoming our next municipal judge."
Lister will be sworn in immediately after Teurman's retirement, Swan said.
A parcel map splitting one lot into three on Discovery Drive across from Numa Elementary School will also be up for review. The property, owned by the Churchill County School District, will be used for houses built by the Churchill County High School vocational carpentry class.
The council will also hold public hearings for zone changes at 211 N. Ada St., 455 W. Center St. and property south of Serpa Place on the city's northeast side.
The Fallon City Council will meet at 7 p.m. tonight in the council chambers, 55 W. Williams Ave.
